Das Buch wurde ein internationaler Bestseller und hat viele Preise gewonnen, unter anderem war es auf der Longlist des Booker Prize, wurde Time&#8217;s Best Novel of the Year und wurde mit einem Hugo Awards ausgezeichnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nachdem wir euch in unserer <a href=\"https:\/\/gunguroo.com\/buecheresel\/2021\/06\/26\/bucheresel-ep20-die-shortlist-des-womens-prize-for-fiction\/\">Folge \u00fcber den Women&#8217;s Prize for Fiction<\/a>, Susanna Clarke und ihr zweites Buch <em>Piranesi<\/em> vorgestellt haben, wollten wir beide auch ihren Debut Roman lesen, der als Harry Potter f\u00fcr Erwachsene beschrieben und wahlweise mit Tolkien, Jane Austen und Charles Dickens verglichen wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein echte W\u00e4lzer mit mehr als 1000 Seiten, an dem die Autorin mehr als 10 Jahre lang geschrieben hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Herausgekommen ist eine Mischung aus Fantasy und einem Gesellschaftsroman des 19.Jahrhunderts. Es gibt historische Elemente und gleichzeitig gleitet das Buch in die fantastische Welt der Fantasie und der Magie in eine Art Alternativgeschichte ab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Magie ist aus England verschwunden und wird allenfalls noch von sogenannten theoretischen Zauberern beschrieben, aber nicht mehr ausge\u00fcbt, als pl\u00f6tzlich Mr.Norrell als erster praktizierender Zauberer seit hunderten von Jahren die B\u00fchne betritt. Er hat sich sein Wissen \u00fcber die Magie angelesen und sammelt und kauft in manischer Weise B\u00fccher \u00fcber Zauberei, damit dieses Wunder niemandem sonst gelingen kann. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sein erkl\u00e4rtes Ziel ist es, die Zauberei wieder als anerkannte Profession in England zu etablieren und zu diesem Zweck reist er nach London um seine Dienste zur Zeit der napoleonischen Kriege, seiner Regierung zur Verf\u00fcgung zu stellen. Er beginnt seine Karriere mit einem faustischen Pakt der weitreichende Folgen haben soll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Einige Zeit sp\u00e4ter betritt ein weiterer Zauberer die B\u00fchne, Jonathan Strange, ein junger Adeliger und in jeder Hinsicht, das genaue Gegenteil von Mr. Norrell.
